Another holiday season approaching, another Call of Duty game inbound. A Call of Duty game releasing brings me a subtle much needed normalcy in this hell that is 2020. (It’s almost over ya’ll!) Which most importantly means: ZOMBIES. Now listen, I have always loved the Zombies mode in Call of Duty, and i knew there were things like “easter eggs” that needed completion. But it wasn’t until This year that I learned there was an entire lore and story behind this game mode. Insane, because not only does it span across multiple games, but also multiple universes. So obviously I was super excited to learn more about this, especially after watching all these Youtubers trying to crack codes to release a new Zombies trailer. So, what did I do? I watched a few zombies videos and was still left confused. So I reached out to a Call of Duty Zombies expert @_VshIey on Twitter for a break down. Here is said breakdown:
Key Elements:
- The Great War – A war fought by two factions: Keepers vs Apothicons, Dr. Monty vs The Shadowman. Dr. Monty wins, banishes Shadowman and Apothicons to the Dark Aether.
- Keepers (Led by Dr. Monty) – Creators of the Summoning Key, Inventors of multiverse travel, Creators of Agartha.
- Apothicons (Led by The Shadowman) – Corrupted Keepers banished to the Dark Aether – Hurl element 115 meteors at Earth.
- Agartha – Perfect dimension void of corruption.
- Aether – Fabric of the universe.
- Dark Aether – Corrupted by Element 115.
- Element 115 – Experimental element used to create zombies.
- Summoning Key – Tool used to manipulate the Eether.
- Kronorium – Book that knows all.
- MPD – Pyramid on the moon holding the imprisoned Eark Aether.
- Agarthan Device – Shapes reality – 3 pieces gathered along the journey (zzz) – also used to destroy the aether – Vrill device (Buried), Blood of Elder God, Elemental Shard (Nuketown).
- Group 935 – Group of German Scientists (Led by Maxis and Richtofen) who unearth 115 and begin to create super soldiers and wonder weapons – WW2 – Experimenting with teleportation – Create first zombie – Nazi’s fund 935 in exchange for wonderweapons. (Der Riese).
- Dimension 1 and 2 – The Great War documented in D1 but not D2.
- Ultimis – Dimension 1 – Dempsey, Takeo, Nikolai (Richtofen included) – Test subjects running errands for Richtofen.
- Primis – Dimension 2 – 2.0’s of main characters – Defeat Apothicons & Save Earth.
- Victis – Tranzit Crew – Dimension 1 – Running errands for Maxis and Richtofen.
- Mob of the Dead Crew – Dimension 1 – Richtofen needs their blood to be safe and dimension hop.
Now that you have the key guide, here are important characters:
- Dr. Monty – Keeper – Ruler of Agartha & Controller of the Aether
- The Shadowman – Corrupted Keeper aka Apothicon – Rival to Dr. Monty
- Edward Richtofen & Ludvig Maxis – Scientists who caused the outbreak working with group 935
- Samantha Maxis – Daughter of Scientist Ludvig
- Tank Dempsey – American Soldier – 935 test subject
- Takeo Masaki – Japanese Soldier – 935 test subject
- Nikolai Belinski – Russian Soldier – 935 test subject
Now, with a key guide to go back to and explain specific locations, dimensions & people. The following breakdown is the zombies universe timeline broken down and simplified.
“IN THE BEGINNING…(GREAT WAR IN DIMENSION 1)”
- Keepers create Agartha, the summoning key, living their best life.
- Keepers discover dark aether
- Become corrupted – Apothicons
- The great war happens – Keepers v Apothicons
- Dr. Monty & the Keepers win
- The Shadowman and Apothicons are banished to Dark Aether
- Dark Aether pyramid (MPD) hidden on the moon
- Apothicons begin to leterrip and send 115 meteors to earth
- Apothicons are eventually freed from the dark aether and Primis has to save the day.
- History is undocumented and everyone forgets about the war
- Element 115 unearthed in the 1800s (Buried)
- WW2 – Element 115 unearthed by Group 935 (Der Riese)
- M&R experimenting with teleportation
- Accidentally create first zombie
- Maxis works on wonder weapons
- Richtofen works on teleporters behind his back
- Teleports himself to moon accidentally
- Touches MPD, Gets electrocuted, Hears voices from dark aether
- Richtofen loses his mind
- Griffin station built on the moon
- Group 935 charges the MPD w Vrill device
- Richtofen enacts plan to control aether
- This includes getting rid of Maxis
- Richtofen teleports Maxis to “The Crazy Place” and sends Samantha to Moon
- Samantha runs into the MPD and gets corrupted
- Samantha now controls the zombies
ENTER ULTIMIS
- Test subjects Dempsey, Takeo & Nikolai awoken.
- Grab Richtofen’s Diary (Shi No Numa)
- TP to Der Riese > TP to Kino
- Soviets experiment with 115 (Ascension)
- Americans experiment in Groom Lake, Camp Edward (Nuketown), Pentagon (Five)
- Dr. Yuri (Five) goes insane, frees Samantha
- After surviving outbreak, Americans create Broken Arrow (their 935)
- Richtofen TP’s back to moon, Swaps souls with Samantha
- (Yellow Eyes: Sam’s Control. Blue Eyes: Richtofen Control)
- Maxis merges soul with computers (please don’t ask), ordering D,T,N to blow up earth to stop Richtofen from controlling Agartha
- EARTH GO BOOM.
- Richtofen still in control of zombies
ENTER TRANZIT CREW
- Mom (Maxis) & Dad (Richtofen) are still fighting
- Maxis asks tranzit crew to ignite items to defeat Richtofen
- They do
- MAXIS WAS CORRUPTED THE WHOLE TIME BY DARK AETHER
- Turns Richtofen into a Zombie
- Traps Samantha in Agartha
DIMENSION 2 – GREAT WAR IS DOCUMENTED HERE
- Samantha reaches out to Maxis v2 so he can free her from Agartha
- Because the war is documented this time, 115 is discovered earlier (WW1) & agents from various places are sent in to investigate. Who are they? YOU GOT THAT RIGHT. Primis.
- Richtofen saves almost dead Maxis’ brain, sends it to Monty
- Primis frees Samantha
- Monty erases corrupted Maxis, places the brain in a new body. (Maxis has no soul)
MONTY PLAN TO ERASE APOTHICONS
- Monty needs all 1.0 souls
- Richtofen needs Summoning Key & Kronorium for the journey
- Now in “The House” (Which is in Agartha) Richtofen learns the plan
- Rich TP to Alcatraz (MotD), tells Warden to build lab underground
- Using the aether, Richtofen contacts Victis tells them to obtain Kronoium, hand over blood samples, then stores them in cryopods
- MotD is happening at this time, they kill weasel, stuck in endless loop purgatory
- Richtofen takes blood samples from MotD crew. (Insurance policy against Monty)
- Richtofen travels to Morgue City (Shadows of Evil) to obtain Summoning Key
- SUMMONING KEY HAS THE SHADOWMAN INSIDE THESE MFS ARE DUMB
- Primis go to dimension one, kill their 1.0’s, collect souls, send them to the house (The Giant, Der Eisen, Zetsubo, Gorod Krovi)
- MOON GO BOOM
- They grab victis blood vials between Zetsubo and GK
MAXIS IS A DUMBASS
- Maxis let The Shadowman out of the FUCKING SUMMONING KEY
- All fucking hell breaks loose
- Shadowman releases the apothicons from the dark aether
- Dr. Monty & Primis team up to fight them
- Primis & Monty win
- Primis drink blood vials to prevent from being wiped with the apothicons
- Monty no like det
- Monty sends them back in time to the great war (this is the cycle, it begins again) [this set of characters are now post revelations characters]
BREAKING THE CYCLE
- Mobsters break their cycle, the kronorium changes
- Primis trapped in the prison, Richtofen learns he must sacrifice himself
- Richtofen dies… he was the nicest one and these fuckwads won’t remember him
- Post Revelations Richtofen takes his place (yes this is the 3rd version of richtofen)
MONTY DOESN’T CARE. HE’S NOT THE GOOD GUY. HE JUST WANTS TO CONTROL AETHER.
- The kronorium changes once again
- Post Rev Richtofen puts Nikolai in charge of the rest of the journey
- Primis goes to rescue Ultimis from the pentagon
- The crew goes to get the elemental shard (Alpha Omega)
- Maxis a snitch & Monty kills him for it
Samantha is now pissed the fuck off
- Victis goes and completes the agarthan device and gets it to primis
- Nikolai poisons everyone, they must all die to save their universe
- They destroy agartha & the summoning key with the agarthan device
- Samantha kills Nikolai
The children walk a tunnel towards a bright light, leading them to a world free of the darkness they once knew. A world where their innocence is intact and they are able to live the lives they want to. The universe is saved.
Or so we thought…
